Last Saturday of the Month

Another month has slipped away, and the virus is staying with us. I try not to dwell on sad news that never seems to go away. Puttering and rearranging odds and ends here at home take my mind off depressing thoughts.

I'll start with the mantel. I took down the clock and decided on a different look.

My grandmother's organ stool holds a round mirror and Italian box.

The blue metal bird fit perfectly inside the box.

The back is as pretty as the front on these art hearts that Kiera and Chloe picked out for me. How smart that the key acts as a stand!

I bought these two Goodwill jars planning to change them. But I may leave them as is for a while.

I like this green jar on top of the piano, but wish the green had extended all the way down to the base.
The bunch of dried flowers came from Hobby Lobby.

Last Sunday I got a sweet surprise! Nicolas carried in a framed print that he, his brothers, and mother spotted at a church flea market. They told me the scene made them think of me. They were so right! I love this vintage print with the charming home(just my style).

I chose to hang it in the living room.
Wish you could see how nice it looks.

Oh, and that could be me walking the property with the dog.

This week's flower painting was fun to do on one of these blank canvases I mentioned in my last post.

And saving the best for last...
Lauren told me tonight that they'll be coming home to Memphis by August 16.
Seeing and holding Tallulah will be exciting.

The last day of July is coming to an end, and so is this post.
Hope you are doing well, and thanks for sharing your time with me.

Art on the Brain

At times I wish so much that I had seriously studied art in high school and college. But making art for a pastime is rewarding, too. Many of the ideas I get for art come from Pinterest images by very accomplished artists.

When my brother liked an abstract on my "studio" wall, I gave it to him and had to replace it with something else. A Pinterest painting helped me solve my empty space.

This photo shows the wall in 2018.

This 2021 photo shows the wall now.

My brother chose the entry of his condo for the abstract.

Yesterday was a Goodwill treasure hunting day. I saw a four dollar rustic frame that I considered for one of my paintings. Inside the frame was a picture of a barn. But after learning someone named Jeannette Priebe had painted it in April of 2005 I may leave this art piece in the frame.

I have some blank canvases that are calling my name. But yipes, I have too many finished ones now. I'm sure my feeble attempts will end up at Goodwill or in the trash. Actually that's okay with me. I had the pleasure of creating.

A Little Bit of Christmas in July

My few Christmas items did not sell at the recent flea market. When I was cleaning out my art room before the sale, I came across these and thought they might sell.

Christmas Tag Art Set

Clip-on Christmas Ornaments

When I turned these over, I was surprised by the dates.
I had no idea they were over ten years old.

Glad they stayed on my booth table. Now I get to clip them on my tree.

Sharing Art

I was able to snap a few pictures at the Saturday Flea Market at Quito Community Center. I regret I didn't get a photo of each buyer with their purchase. But I was happy that young and old seemed to enjoy the paintings I displayed on three tables.

The angel to the far right on the floor got a new owner.

Some took a long time making a decision.

Others knew right away which painting they wanted.

My former student chose this one. It reminded her of the ocean.

The purple shades were pleasing to this buyer.

Below are some other artworks that sold.

The busiest spot at the flea market was this lemonade stand attended by these two cuties.

The Saturday flea market was a pleasant experience because
sharing art with others makes me happy.

Moments to Remember

*Wonderful visit with my brother in his condo

His friend Leslie shared this photo off her phone.
I love how relaxed and happy he looks in this picture.
His place is great with vintage furniture pieces, personal memorabilia, and lots of artwork.

*Art piece hung in right place at last

I have tried this picture in several places but never thought to add it to this wall.
It blends in well with the other floral pictures I have on the hutch.

 *Another jug

*More paintings

I am going to display some paintings at a community flea market this Saturday. It will be embarrassing if no one buys, but I won't know until I try.

* Changeups

I may leave these two art pieces in place for good.
They are memory keepers.

I have become attached to this painting and like it in the extra bedroom.

* Bargain book finds given to someone for encouragement

* Thrilling sky scene captured on cell phone
