Scenes From Home

 Since I'm spending most of my days here at home, these are the familiar sights around here.

On some days I make it to the art room and play around with ideas.

I cut pieces from this art paper and glued them onto a mixed media piece.

This idea with fall trees came from another artist.

When Halloween is over, I sure will miss this jack-o'-lantern that has kept me company in the kitchen.

Wish this art had been signed. The frame alone was worth the six dollars I paid for this autumn scene. Another Lucy Flea Market find.  

Speaking of autumn, our big tree is once again sporting golden leaves. 

No real pumpkins this year...spent my money on fake ones that can sit on the doorstep next year(if I'm still here).

The orange ceramic one my mom did years ago for me, and there's a jack-o'-lantern on its other side.

I have been forgetting to post book selections. Oh, thank goodness for books!

It's nice to go away to another town, other people, and different circumstances.

This book weaves two stories together...2018/1940.

Morgan is the modern day character, and Anna is from the past.

It has to do with two of my favorite things - art and diary keeping.

 

Falling Leaves

A sure sign of November is leaves everywhere.

I haven't ventured out much...staying in and enjoying the quiet.

Sunday is a nice day to share.

I saw the stacked cups and pumpkin under glass on another blog. I thought I can do that! I am indebted to others who have such lovely ideas. Do check out Common Ground for Debra's fantastic fall decorating.

My bottle collection is growing. Keeping the little pumpkin out on the desk for another fall touch.

Giving these packages a fall touch, too. I love leaves!!!

Spent one morning at the booth in order to rearrange and free up two shelves for a Christmas  display.

This morning I noticed a change in our tree. It has lost many leaves since I took this photo several days ago. A few more windy gusts will soon make it bare.


I carried Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to the church today. I can't help but wonder where they will go and who will open them.

 Sure signs of autumn are when our big tree changes its color and when leaves start to carpet the ground.

When I taught  third graders, we would make a booklet of poems.

I Like Ghosts

                                                       I like ghosts and witches

                                                       And creepy-crawly things 

                                                       I even like bats that fly

 On sweepy-swoopy wings.

               I like all the screams and shrieks

                                                       Of things that can't be seen.

     I like all those scary things.

                                                       But

                                                       Only

                                                       On

                                                       Halloween.

Plain to Glamorous

I have a notebook where I keep seasonal ideas and pictures from magazines.
Thus the notebook is divided into four sections for the four seasons. One of the easiest and best suggestions came from an article "Crafts for your Party."

Take a plastic orange pumpkin.

Paint it with a gold metallic washable acrylic.

Ready to fill with candy or use as a decoration. 

I have selected the design for this year's jack-0'-lantern. Sure hope it turns out. Before I go a few outdoor pictures here at home.
