Summer Days

Even with the summer heat July has been a good month. Tallulah has mastered crawling.

Her dad shared this picture of her standing. This little lady is getting stronger and braver.

Olga and Gunner returned from a visit to see relatives in Mexico. Olga brought back some lovely gifts for Tallulah, Lauren, and me.

Of course, I've been spending time over in the art room. I still love to paint flowers.

I had fun doing this mixed media.

Three Is a Good Number

This afternoon I spent some time in the art corner. While there I realized I have three sons to thank for the furnishings in this space. Lester left the glass desk unit when he moved away; Ryan the adjustable light ; Jason the office chair.

This quick painting got three little flowers.

Someone joined me while I was painting.

These colorful flower paintings are relaxing to do.
The swirls of color are fun to create.
This one is on a thin panel and not quite finished.

Pretty in Pink

Such a beautiful day!

I'm fond of this recent flower painting because of the colors.

With Mother's Day approaching I decided to pull out some wonderful photos of my mother. I love the one of her in the pink gown. She shared that it was a borrowed dress from a girlfriend.

Being At Home

We all may be spending more time at home due to the coronavirus.

Reading and painting keep me happy on most days.

The cover of this novel attracted my attention. The story held my interest, but it won't be a book I'll keep on my bookshelf.

I continue to go through memorabilia. Yesterday I returned to my college days by reading old letters I had written home to my mom and dad and also those my mother had written to me. My dad's handwriting only showed up in one.
For a little while I visited a much sweeter time. Oh, how much phone calls and letters meant during those years. It was a time of dresses and hose, lengthy reading assignments and papers to write, bowling and movie dates, campus activities, and dorm fun. One day I may do away with the letters, but not yet.
They allowed me to relive a very special time in my life. Little details I had forgotten were brought back to life.

I took so much for granted in my twenties, thirties, and forties.

I am trying to cherish each and every day now that I am older. I have been blessed beyond measure to have made it seven decades.

Fun With Colors

Thank goodness for art relaxation. The abstract is on a canvas, and the vase of flowers is an art journal page.

Inspired

After being around so much art in Berea I felt inspired to get the paints out for a new creation.

Decided to use my iPad/recipe stand for a display easel.

I came across this wooden box at Marketplace. My plan is to put some small plants inside it. But for now I stuck another small flower painting in it.

When I returned from Berea, I had this surprise. After a year of ice cube watering a bloom!

A Quick Hello

I'm sure you know another month has begun. I am behind. Sharing this art journal page so you'll know I'm still around.

Happy Mistake

I had one more blank canvas and decided yesterday to do something with it. Nothing was working out, especially the shade of brown I tried to mix.  I was disappointed with my efforts. However, I found a place for my "mistake" painting and am HAPPY with it after all.

Happy Memorial Weekend

Two Friday Facts

*I enjoy art.
It has been a long time since I created some tags.
I liked making these today, using paper scraps and rubber stamps.

Flower paintings are growing in number.
Hard to stop since they're fun to do.

*I enjoy real flowers.

The irises are so pretty this year.

I have my mother to thank for these lovely plants.

Every day I check on them, and today these three got their picture taken.

Tired of Rain

Thank goodness for books, painting, and March basketball games. I'm sitting at the computer table in the guest bedroom and thought I'd dash off a quick post.

I should be getting tired of flower paintings, but I'm not.

One more birdbath and I'll have a collection.
I have moved these together for now on top of the chest.
So ready to try out some different arrangements come Spring.

Happy Weekend!
