Time for a Few Changes

I seldom make big changes here at home, but little things do get moved around. For example, I moved this brass pitcher from a small end table to the hearth. It has been with me for years. During apartment days it sat on the lone shelf in the tiny kitchen. In my first home it was always on the massive mantel log in the rustic den.

It still has the sticker on the bottom that reads Burks Antiques Log Cabin. A lovely couple allowed young people to charge purchases and pay for pieces on a monthly basis. Thanks to the Burks I was able to acquire my first quality pieces of antique furniture.

To hide two vents and one center outlet makes decorating
this mantel very frustrating. However, I changed it
this afternoon, trying not to get upset.  The stained
little cupboard is back, but to hide that ugly outlet
I had to place the alphabet plate on top. Happy
with the number 5 block.

I moved the antique clock from the mantel to the piano.

Hey, the clock seems to be running better in this spot. Hopefully with its lower position I'll be better at winding it.

I liked this chalkboard message from a Pinterest site.
I just glued the page to a canvas and propped it on our bookcase.
May decide to frame it.

In high school I borrowed those words and wrote them in someone's yearbook.
How true those six words are!

Loose Ends

These Halloween tags were easy and fun to make, thanks to Keri at http://shakentogether.blogspot.com/.

The Happy Fall garland sold at the booth last week so I took this one and draped it out across one of the bookcases. If it doesn't sell I will bring it back home for Halloween night.

A few days ago I told you about an unusual purchase for five dollars. Well, here is that something -

The crackled finish is what I liked best about this clock. And with a fresh battery it works!

Hello October

A few messages to start off the month...

I'm back to doing my walking route and using the pebbles to keep track of completed laps. Invigorating coolness in the mornings keeps me moving.

I'm also continuing my interior decorating known as puttering. Since I didn't like the clock obscuring some of the tiles on the English washstand, I moved the timekeeper yet again.

For once I caught these two brothers (grandsons Gunner and Nicolas) quietly sharing a storybook.

I know it's October but find it hard to believe. This quick passage of time is disturbing. Nevertheless I'm going to do my best to treasure each and every day of this beautiful month.

Checking In

Thought I'd check in to say hello. I like
the saying on the circular wood piece.
It's a good reminder that rests on a small coffee table in the den.

I decided on a place for my C letter. It's perched on a book stack on a living room end table. Have a great week! We're still waiting for fall weather.
