Houseful

 When Les and Pennee visit from Texas our house fills up fast with family. Our total was seventeen this time (Lester, Pennee, Kiera, Chloe. Lauren, Tallulah, Etta, Jo,  Gunner, Micah, Nick, Lucas, Jason, Garrett, Chance, Corkey, and Me). Our den space became crowded as we all gathered together. Their visit was short, but Pennee, her girls, and I always try to squeeze in shopping at Abandoned Antiques. Lauren and her little ones even met us there. 

Pennee and I shared photos to remember our shopping experience.  

Kiera and Chloe were wonderful with Tallulah and Etta at the store and here at home. I asked these two beauties to look my way for a photo.

Change

 That's the one sure thing about life. There will be CHANGE. Many changes are exciting while others are sad.

Changes in home decor are much easier to handle. I've been switching around pictures AGAIN.

After picking up some health papers in Covington I had extra time to spend on the square. It seems the storefronts are always changing between my visits.

 

I had heard one store had left the square and relocated near the railroad tracks. I paid that business a visit and enjoyed browsing.

 You know me by now. The thrill of the hunt usually turns up little treasures.

Sightseeing at Antique Malls

It is such fun to walk through an antique mall and notice the vast assortment of objects. Yesterday I was with a friend, and we took in two malls that are near each other. I snapped a few photos along the way.

I almost bought this package of ornaments, but the price was more than I wanted to pay.

This cooler reminded me of my parents, 'cause we had one on family camping trips.

 Of course, I enjoyed all the art I saw on display. This abstract caught my eye.

I came home with a few littles. I know it's a rather weird assortment. The metal gazelle, porcelain miniature library, and green parfait glass will be tucked away for much later in the year.

 My biggest purchase was this woven picnic basket. When I see one of these in good condition, I get excited. Just love their latches and how useful they are for storage. 

Shopping Memories

It is great to shop with a close friend who also likes to search for great finds and bargains. We had a memorable day last Wednesday. I'm still reliving the fun time we had.

 We saw all sorts of  decorative items. 

This little wren came home with me.

The first green bottle on the left was a freebie from this second antique shop. Because it had no price tag the owner didn't charge for it. That's the best kind of bargain!

 I liked this barn painting.

Two small purchases at this third store - the white wreath and Merry Christmas sign ornament.

This display with the painted suitcase was at another delightful gift shop.

Our final stop was at a Goodwill store. This jar with the deer lid was too pretty to leave behind. Only five dollars!  

I wanted to do this post to save our wonderful day.

Temptations

Within this store are temptations galore. Fashion, jewelry, paintings, home decor, and much more were offered in every aisle. 

Although I didn't buy anything on my first visit to this store, I do want to return. It would be a great place for Christmas shopping.



My two key purchases on Thursday's outing with my friend Kim were a sign

and this tin container, both from Hobby Lobby. There were so many seasonal as well as inspirational signs that I had a difficult time making up my mind. I liked 'em all or so it seemed. It took me a long time to decide. The side door entryway received a makeover. 

I think this vintage rack will be fun to decorate with the seasons. It and the brass container I have had for years. 

 Fall is a great time to shop, but temptations abound because of so many lovely creations. Indeed it's a sweet time to enjoy the outdoors as well as home decorating.

Fun Finds

Saturday was a beautiful day. After an early lunch at Chick-fil-A with my dear hubby, we took off in different directions to do errands. I had hours to myself to simply browse. Shopping with a friend is lovely, but shopping on my own is just as nice. And what's weird is sometimes you find nothing at all, but occasionally you experience a bonanza. I found lots of good stuff at local stores.

 I bought this plate to replace one that broke into pieces when a grandson accidentally bumped into the dining room wall hanger. This one shouldn't shatter because it's a silver plate that has been painted and decorated in cream and brown. 

This yellow ware pitcher came home to my kitchen.

After leaving Midsouth Marketplace I stopped at Dirt Cheap and came across two sturdy storage boxes(Hearth & Hand with Magnolia). They were in my color!

My last stop was at Boatwright Drug Co. to see if a particular object was still in the display window.  The colors and message in this wall hanging by natural life (Bungalow Art) were irresistible. 

Instead of clothes and shoes I prefer to shop for home treasures. These were my principal items of the day. However, I also picked up four bargain books and an old muffin pan for when I'm mixing colors and painting.

I like to shop at local stores, and looking for bargains is always fun.
