Art on the Brain

 At times I wish so much that I had seriously studied art in high school and college. But making art for a pastime is rewarding, too. Many of the ideas I get for art come from Pinterest images by very accomplished artists. 

When my brother liked an abstract on my "studio" wall, I gave it to him and had to replace it with something else. A Pinterest painting helped me solve my empty space.

Yesterday was a Goodwill treasure hunting day. I saw a four dollar rustic frame that I considered for one of my paintings. Inside the frame was a picture of a barn. But after learning someone named Jeannette Priebe had painted it in April of 2005 I may leave this art piece in the frame.

I have some blank canvases that are calling my name. But yipes, I have too many finished ones now. I'm sure my feeble attempts will end up at Goodwill or in the trash. Actually that's okay with me. I had the pleasure of creating.

Three Is a Good Number

This afternoon I spent some time in the art corner. While there I realized I have three sons to thank for the furnishings in this space. Lester left the glass desk unit when he moved away; Ryan the adjustable light ; Jason the office chair.

Come Inside

I have written about and shown you my art space many times. Well, here I go again. Come inside to one of my favorite spaces.

I added three more pages to my art journal.

Personal Space

I am very fortunate to have such a space. 

The art space I use is not a whole room, but it offers privacy and quiet time.

I'm able to paint a canvas, add to my art journal, or just sit and think about a future project.

Schedules and Plans

If I could develop a regular schedule I believe I could get more done. I seem to be wasting precious time. Motivation and drive have shriveled. Is it because of my age? Do I feel that my most productive years are gone? Do I know what I really want to accomplish anymore?

I hope to spend a certain amount of time in this space every day.

One goal is to be more creative.

After packing away Christmas items I've been bringing back other decor.

Leaves and acorns are always favorites of mine. 

Another goal is to read more books.

Plan to start a new painting now that I'm feeling better.

Cleaning Out and Reorganizing

Happy to say I've made some progress over in the art room.

The green boxes are recent additions.

Finally got around to labeling these bins.

Completed two more pages in my art journal.

Sometimes just messing around with stamps or paints is a happy creative experience.

I recently bought this magazine just so I could visit the art spaces of creative women. It also contained excellent information about forming an art studio and making time for art.

Here is where I love to come...sometimes to just sit or maybe read up on art techniques or begin a creative project.

I hope your Sunday was peaceful and joyful. Whether large or small, churches foster deep feelings.

 We had Homecoming at our church today. It was wonderful to see all the pews full and additional chairs placed in the center aisle. Of course, the program of gospel music by The Finchers helped our attendance number. And what a blessing they delivered and we received at our small church! 

Making Time

I meant to write a blog post days ago, but can't seem to squeeze in everything I'd like to do. However, I have been carving out some time for art. 

This is my getaway space.

with paintings and collages.

Enjoy the creative process, but I don't like the cleanup.
