Trial and Error

 

One thing is true about early decorating. You get to experiment. My Merry Christmas banner did not look right anywhere I tried to suspend it. It needed more  sparkling embellishments which I never got around to doing. So I went with something different for the mirror.



 Snowflakes, a couple of silver balls, and tinsel produced this look.

 

 

 

 Merry Christmas ended up on a shelf in the utility room.

 

Simple kitchen garland may be my favorite. 

 

I love decorating for Christmas, but am never completely satisfied with the decorations.  Guess I have glanced through too many magazines. Have a great day!

 

 

 



Loose Ends

These Halloween tags were easy and fun to make, thanks to Keri at http://shakentogether.blogspot.com/.

The Happy Fall garland sold at the booth last week so I took this one and draped it out across one of the bookcases. If it doesn't sell I will bring it back home for Halloween night.

A few days ago I told you about an unusual purchase for five dollars. Well, here is that something -

The crackled finish is what I liked best about this clock. And with a fresh battery it works! 

Sharing Ideas

With so many marvelous blogs it's almost impossible not to find some idea or project you want to try. I discovered Keri's blog recently and love what she does with office supply tags. At http://shakentogether.blogspot.com she gives great instructions, photos, and supply list for a happy fall banner. Because I love tags myself I had to follow her lead and make one.

Some Extra Little Details

Decorating is more or less finished. I think I have something Christmasy in every room of the house. Last night I hung one last garland in the kids' nook in the utility room. I had some gift tags from Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazines that I had never used. The tiny tags made the laundry room a bit cheerier. Yesterday and today I was at my old school attending morning Christmas programs for grandsons Gunner and Garrett. Oh my, the memories that came flooding back as each group stood, took their places, sang or performed. Ah, Christmas will always have special wonder and awe for the little ones, but we adults must hold onto them, too, for we should know the real reason for the season.

It's more Christmas at my house...hope that's okay. I use many of the same decorations from year to year. The "MERRY" banner went from the hallway cupboard to our bedroom dresser mirror. Until my next Christmas installment stay well and warm.

In a Merry Mood

Today was spent inside. . . damp and rainy
out. . .finally got around to making a garland
similar to one Allison displayed in her home
last Christmas(My Cozy Home blog). I used
old postcards and letters cut from magazines.

I also made these tag sets . . . a relaxing way to spend time when you don't want to clean house.
