A Little Bit of Nature

Due to recent rains little elf houses popped up in the yard.
Mushrooms are fascinating little structures with their erect stalks and caplike tops. These fungus growths were deserving of some camera closeups.

Leaves are starting to settle here and there.

Green leaves remain for the time being.
Before long these will be a beautiful gold.
Are you anticipating the changes that autumn will bring?
I am!

Cool Morning

Felt great to be outside this morning. Because it has been so hot and dry, leaves have already started to fall. Hopefully more birds will return to our yard. We kept seed and water out for them during the awful weeks of extreme heat, but they sought cooler places. I noticed my garden rabbits need a fresh coat of white. And with my camera I noticed some beautiful insect wings.

Fragile keepsakes

Leaves can be saved to mark a special
day, trip, or event. Sometimes I write the
place and date to remember why I saved
a particular leaf.
During autumn it's fun to look for a colorful leaf. Of course, there are many to choose from, but perhaps one will be too unique to leave behind on the ground.

I press mine in a big thick telephone book and later try to find a frame that compliments nature's free gift.
In a few days I will travel to Louisiana and walk the farmland where my grandparents once lived. One of my objectives will be to save a special leaf from that property.

Taking a Moment

Sometimes I forget to pause and see what is right before my eyes. Just outside my own backdoor is a world of beauty. No need for a sweater today, but there is a definite nip in the air. Enjoy your Saturday wherever you are.
