Ah, To Browse!

Browsing an antique store is a favorite pastime of mine. You get to see all sorts of old(and not so old)things. I only snapped a few pictures.

I am not a doll collector, but this group was photo worthy.
The one with the lavender hat and dress was my favorite due to her penetrating stare with a trace of sadness.

I paused at this whimsical painting someone had done on a piece of wood.
I think I may try something like this on an art journal page.

Really liked this cabinet of drawers, but it was another "left behind"
wonderful find.

Seeing those brown drawers made me think of Susan Branch's blog post on the color brown. It's her latest entry, and it's outstanding.

Pleasurable Hours

This picture turned out better than I thought it would because I was so far away from the church. I was sitting in Corkey's truck this morning waiting on him to buy a lawnmower belt. Through the windshield my trusty Kodak Easy Share  C613 came through for me. Next we had a relaxing late breakfast at IHOP. After that we headed in different directions.

You probably know where I headed. Yes, you guessed it. To a flea market.

I found a few things for the booth and a couple of items for myself.

I liked the color of these books and the fake eyeglasses decoration.

I have been going through some old journals and bookmarking certain passages. It is amazing to find details I had completely forgotten. One such example is the foot locker in the picture below. It belonged to my dad. I had written about using gold leaf to bring out the hardware on it.

By the way everything on the foot locker are pieces I acquired when flea marketing at different times and places.

Before I close two more photos because I still love my desk, and the book  by Susan Branch is wonderful. She writes in diary form and illustrates the pages with her drawings and photos.

Oh, I wish I could visit England!
I don't have a bucket list, but if I did England would be on it.

Lights and Letters

One of my favorite blogs belongs to artist and writer Susan Branch. A visit to her blog is like a relaxing vacation. She captures beauty indoors and outdoors. You always feel so welcome by her observations and comments.

Recently I went there in search of inspiration. And found it! She had taken a glass measuring cup, added a votive, and created a lovely radiance. Well, I looked in my kitchen cabinet for such a cup and duplicated the effect. I took another small glass and lit it up as well with a tealight. Since the Fresh Baked Cookies tealights were scented, the kitchen smelled wonderful.

Another tiny change has to do with this sign.

After using the ANTIQUES sign at the booth for a time, I decided to bring it home. I really didn't want to hang it so I folded it.

I like that I can switch the letters.
