Spring Mood

With the great weather the past few days I have been outside more, and my mood has definitely improved. Yesterday I removed leaves from the flowerbeds and noticed there's hope for returning plants.

While I wait for real blooms on the outside, I enjoy these artificial ones inside.

As always I've been rearranging...a never-ending practice that keeps me happy. The two grapevine wreaths are hiding that crazy outlet that's in the wrong place above the mantel.

Some spring decorations are starting to appear.
Rabbits and eggs are the main attractions.

These polka dot ones are my new favorites.

Happy Spring!

Filling in the Week

After Tuesday's appointment at the periodontist I made a stop at Hobby Lobby to buy art supplies that were 50% off. Wish this shelf had been on sale. I could visualize it on the wall in the side entrance. I really liked the vintage look of the tin panel. Maybe someday that space will get a decoration.

With new canvases and tubes of paint I spent time Wednesday over in the studio.

I'm still working on this angel. I think I may add words or numbers or symbols.
Or I may change to brighter colors.

This is a new page from my art journal. Some years ago I came across this old poem on another blog and loved the message.

Thursday I spent reading. Soon I'll share my recent book selections. I do love a good book!

Today at Marketplace I found another marble egg to add to this group. It's a peach color.

This jar decoration is old. I had it when Ryan and Lauren were little.
Lauren once told me she used to climb to get candy from the jar that sat on our tall bookcase. I never knew!

This is my favorite egg collection that I bring out each year.
Sure miss those sweet years of Easter basket surprises.

Spring is Tardy

My calendar page box said Spring for today. But I have to disagree 'cause we had chill, wind, and even a brief flurry of snow. One mild day this past week I did clean out flowerbeds. That put me in the mood for new plantings, warmer days, and flower blooms.

I have had my head buried in a very good book that a friend loaned to me.
Unforgettable characters spanning three generations in fictitious Howbutker, Texas, will keep you turning pages.

I keep bringing home quirky one dollar finds -
a thin wooden plaque with a perfect quote, a colorful container with peculiar designs, and a paper heart of many colors.

A few Easter decorations are out.

I put together another small canvas.

I've been working a little on my booth. It needs revamping.

I was hoping someone would purchase the lantern to display a cute Easter rabbit with a few eggs or maybe

buy this sweet Teena Flanner collectible.

But so far no takers.

When I was in Texas I purchased this soft green pitcher from an antique store in the old part of Celina. The shop is a real treasure trove, and the lovely, elderly couple encourage browsing.

Well, that's a summary for this Sunday evening. Hopefully spring is just around the corner.

Can't Believe It's Already April

As I did some spring cleaning today, I changed out a few decorations. Three marble eggs nestle up against this rather distinguished rabbit.

Scoops in the kitchen windowsill house rabbits and eggs.

Grapevine wreath shelters these eggs that were blown out, decorated, and saved from previous years.

 Treasured egg collection...how it brings
back dear memories from past Easters

It's getting late, and my rigorous cleaning day is catching up with me.

Dying eggs and other fun

Gunner spent the day with us. He used the computer and did a search for Easter egg designs. At http://www.mccormick.com/ we watched a video of a lady showing different techniques. We then blew out eggs and tried our luck. Speaking of luck, Gunner found several four leaf clovers when we were outside. Those were pressed inside a big book. Gunner also climbed his favorite tree, filled up the birdbaths, helped pick up sticks so his granddad could mow, and sat in the swing with me playing "I Spy." It was a day of many pleasures.

Sky View and Down to Earth

last year's glittery eggs

grandkids' painted eggshells from 2009

collection of wooden, tin, and Hallmark plastic eggs

On my way to get the Friday morning newspaper I looked up to see traffic patterns in the sky. I scooted back inside for my camera and snapped these three photos before the jet trails faded away. Saturday was full...late breakfast lunch at Ryan's with hubby, time at the booth, and a nice afternoon visit with Mom. Grandkids were here today, and they spotted their Easter eggs from last year. Here's to making memories whenever and wherever we can... xo, Sandy
