In The Middle

 It's already the middle of August, and I'm just now posting in this new month. 

 I'll let these random pictures speak for me today.

Lauren took this picture of the girls on their first day back at daycare. 

We enjoyed a supper meal just yesterday at Erwin's with friends. Right when I walked in I saw my dad's tiffany lamp still hanging in the restaurant.

The strangers in the photos probably wondered why I was taking pictures of the light fixture.

That's Bruce, Erika, and Corkey walking up front to pay for our delicious fish meals. The fish, french fries, hush puppies, white beans, and slaw were soooo good!

This photo shows the lamp in Mom and Dad's kitchen. He made it from a kit that was a Christmas gift in 1977.

I have many memories of Mom and me sitting, eating, and talking in her kitchen under that lamp. 

How I would love to buy back that lamp! At the time of the house sale I didn't think about it and sure wish I had.

Dear April

This dear month will soon be gone. Unbelievable!

Every year I seem to enjoy gardening more and more. I've been working on flowerbeds and planters during April.

 

 

 

Corkey and I had a wonderful getaway day in Savannah, Tennessee. We met friends at Hagy's Catfish Hotel Restaurant on the Tennessee River.

 

 

 

I spent some time with my mother on this rainy Monday. Quiet moments looking out her window...a squirrel digging, a robin capturing a worm, raindrops hitting puddles of water.

 

I miss the talks we used to have. I miss her ready smiles. I miss her intelligence, her drive, her personality.

 

A few days ago someone who had known Mother called her a "firecracker." The term made me smile.

 

There are days now when she can't remember my name, but no matter, for she is my precious Mom.  Dear April...    

Rendezvous

This Memphis restaurant has tasty foods, friendly service, and an abundance of customers. We arrived before the lunch crowd poured in to fill up every available table.

After our lunch we checked out a couple of shops on a nearby street. This entrance to Toad Hall Antiques opens into a shoppers' delight...bold pieces, unusual displays, and quirky objects.

This whimsical mural on the side of the building certainly catches one's eye and foretells the out of the ordinary merchandise.



There's a ground floor and an upper level...each area filled with rooms of interesting decor.

After much browsing we left with our heads full of decorating ideas.

Although the three of us live in different locations - Tennessee, Mississippi, and Florida - we are trying to reconnect more often. Since we shared our high school years together, we want to keep on making memories. I'm so looking forward to our next meeting. Special prayers and thoughts for FRIENDS who sustain us on this journey of life...xoxo

Saturday in Memphis

Thankfully The Med is still open. At one time there was talk about closing this facility.

Interesting restaurant on Second Street in downtown Memphis

We were in Memphis to be with our friend Carla whose husband had the terrible fall.The report from the doctors is not good...too much damage...recovery not expected. Lunch at the Flying Fish offered a few minutes of normalcy. Our order of shrimp, oysters, and fish fillets was excellent.
