Determined

I looked through scads of photos searching for this one in particular. This is the card I showed you in the last post that I framed for safekeeping. Oh, the memories of that room and the many visits with Mother. Some sweet, some sad, some difficult. But I wouldn't take anything for those days because we were together, trying to make the best of a terrible situation.

It was a beautiful Thursday, and Corkey and I spent part of it in Covington. We had a few people we wanted to see and invite to our annual Labor Day Barbecue.

Feeling blessed!

Getting Mail

One reason I enjoy December is the arrival of Christmas cards. It's wonderful to open each envelope to see the art designs and messages...then to read the handwritten notes and signatures. This year I folded book pages to make a card display. Pinterest, thanks again.

WOW!
A spectacular card was delivered today...a real beauty from Mary.
It's another keeper.

The advent calendar has been one of my favorite decorations this year.

Can you believe how close Christmas is to being here?

Happy Is Such a Nice Feeling

Our weekend was lovely due to cooler weather and gentle breezes. Felt guilty enjoying our fine weather while the East Coast was suffering because of Hurricane Irene. Nevertheless one little boy had a wonderful outdoor birthday party on Saturday.

I wanted to share a card from my friend Pat. She makes the prettiest cards.
This one was too pretty to tuck away so I placed it on my bedside table.

Dear friends, this sentiment says the same about you.

Early Morning Shopping

I left home soon after breakfast to do a little shopping. Lo and behold, my cart soon filled with decisions I had made. Yeah! Not many shoppers out on this cold morning, and most aisles were clear and checkout lines short. Yeah again! Home again I did a little more layering to the mantel. The Santa "Christmas Joys" postcard I have had for ages, but the "Christmas Wishes" card came in the mail today. Love it! Also happy about getting to use another favorite of mine - green floral frogs. Have a great Saturday.

Surprises in the Mail

A beautiful card from one of my dearest friends
A beautifully expressed poem "For a Special Friend" by Emily Matthews
Two glitter word ornaments inside the card
Happiness inside an envelope
But now in my heart
Thank you, Mary, for being my friend.

Pat's gift

My friend Pat makes marvelous cards. She presented me with a gift... a sweet carrying case of cards that allows me to share her beautiful creations. I know someone who recently lost her father...I'm sending a Pat card to her. Another friend has been through a difficult surgery...I'm sending her a Pat card. Yes, Pat, your cardmaking talent is far-reaching, touching many lives.

Tag Along With Me

My time is spent mostly inside the house and outside in the yard. More and more it's the little things that delight me...it's the tender moments with special people that matter...and just being alive to enjoy the hours of the day.
