Truthful Words

When actor Burt Reynolds died, Sally Field made this statement about her friend.

"There are times in your life that are so indelible, they never fade away. They stay alive, even forty years later. My years with Burt never leave my mind. He will be in my history and my heart, for as long as I live."

This rings true for me whenever I remember my children's birthdays. Their dad and I shared a young love that didn't hold up through the years. But we were blessed to have two beautiful children.

 I want Ryan and Lauren to know what joy they added to our lives. Although our marriage ended, we experienced together the wondrous thrill of their birth and early development. Today our firstborn is 40! 

Patience

Last week I bought someone's castoff that will be new in our kitchen. Since a kitchen remodel is out of the question, I'm always trying to decorate with what I have or with little extras. This light fixture's $30 price tag swayed me. 

I have had to wait on its installment. Last night Jo was able to get it mounted. 
It's great having a son with a master's electrical license.

Being A Mother

I think of these words from time to time. I did this week as my son who lives in Oakland, California, was home for a visit. Parenthood is such a great blessing, but it comes with challenges and heartaches as well as precious and incomparable joys. 

 Our stops on Wednesday included Midsouth Marketplace Antiques and Collectibles, Dunkin' Donuts, Plantation Antiques, Goodwill, and 

Tops Bar-B-Q. 

It was wonderful to spend time with Ryan. We talked and shared thoughts and feelings, and I couldn't help but cry some, too. Love my son!

One Day at a Time

Hello...and just a few pictures tonight to let you know I am still around.

 

The past few days have been upsetting due to Mother's declining physical and mental health. Hospice care was started the first week of March, and there have been dramatic up and down days.

Grandsons like first grader Nicolas help reduce the stress and keep us smiling during these difficult days.

We are changing the look of our front porch. Son Jason has done a marvelous job on the columns.
