One Day At A Time

 I'm glad that's the way life happens. Thankfully we can't see our tomorrows. 

I have started a new simple journaling notebook.

I must be addicted to saving the days of my life.

I have simple journaling notebooks, my other journals, and these blog entries.

It's been a long time since I shared a book recommendation.

This one was a bit odd, but held my interest to the very last page.

One review on the back cover used the word "Riveting."

Painting is something I continue to do. Faces are beyond my ability, but I keep trying.

A couple of smalls from this week

It has been so hot this week that I have not ventured outside much except to do my morning laps and to water porch and patio plants. 

What's New?

Television news about another horrific school shooting has been depressing.
Once upon a time daily life was not full of reports about murders, rapes, and robberies. We are living in disturbing times. And yet there are so many acts of kindness. People helping people.



It has been quiet around here, and I guess that's a good thing. 

SIMPLE JOYS

 Valentine's Day is always one of the sweetest days of the month.

Sad that it's over... 
I had these figurines out on my desk for Valentine's Day.
They are stamped Lucy Rigg 1979 on the bottom. I bought the pair years ago in Dyersburg.

I had planned to put this Eddie Bauer HOME pitcher in the booth to sell, but after turning it to the other side, I decided to keep it in the kitchen. I liked the way my green-handled silverware looked in it. Simple change. Refreshing change.

 Certainly enjoyed this book a friend loaned me. Molly and Vivian's stories are fascinating reading as the past and present are interwoven.

 How blessed I was to have loving parents and a happy childhood! 

After many idle weeks the paints came out.

Felt good to smear some paint around.

A Form of Relaxation

...or maybe therapy. Getting out scissors and glue is very relaxing even at my age. There's something to be said for simple journaling.

Treasure hunting is also a way to relax.

There's such a vast assortment of stuff to browse.

I made one small purchase of a doll furniture table for four dollars and

have no idea how I will use it. I just liked it!   

I'm staying in on this rainy Saturday. I look around and wish Chip and Joanna could transform this room for me. Oh well, it's home, and I'm thankful for it.

Cardstock, small paintbrushes, pens, and package of design sheets were needed supplies from HL. My only other art purchase was an assortment of art tissue sheets from TM.

Added this new cover design to Volume Five

The errands were yesterday, and today was art time. I painted over a picture of a church I had done and started again. This one pleased me more.

Son Jason gave front porch bench a fresh coat of paint.

This bench is one of my favorite finds.

So glad I didn't pass it up.

Simple Journaling

Sometimes timing plays a major role in matters of life-changing events and even in small everyday occurrences. Case in point, this lovely book for one dollar at the Goodwill Bargain Center. 

This art book cost me more at the main Goodwill store next door, but I wanted it for ideas about journaling. And this brings me to the topic of this post.

I have been recording, pasting, and drawing inside art notebooks for awhile.

You may remember when this journal appeared several years ago.

I am still working on mine. Below are a few pages from it.

Turning Another Calendar Page

... and realizing more time has slipped away.

 The stages of life go by quickly.

This old-fashioned print caught my eye at Goodwill last week, 

as did this black and white framed photograph.

Such concentration on the little girls' faces.

I added this page to my Simple Journaling notebook.

It is enough to know how far I've come. Accepting oneself is a huge part of the journey.

Thinking About You

It was such a pleasure to talk to a dear friend this week. I hope she will check out posts "Tuesday Tidbit" and "Four Days" to see that wonderful card she sent me. I loved the sentiment on the card and especially her handwritten message. I tucked it up on my board to brighten my days.

Another friend surprised me with this gift several years ago. In my home I have such lovely treasures from close friends. These objects of affection are  truly meaningful, and the friendships are priceless.

In the month of June

June is a special month for us. My husband and I get to celebrate our anniversary on two different dates. Twenty-five years ago we were married by Ms. Clara McMillin in a simple but meaningful ceremony at the Covington Courthouse on June 8th. Later on June 30th we had another ceremony at Quito United Methodist Church with our children standing up front with us as we said our vows before family and a few friends.

June has been a busy month so far with frequent checks on Mother's care and also caring for grandkids.

Selfies...ugh!
