Pleasures

When I look out my kitchen window I am able to see birds at the feeder and blooms in the flowerpots. Closeups of these beauties reveal colorful details.

I've also been painting.

Praying many prayers as we begin this new month...

Little things must keep us happy for the time being. This porch doggie makes me smile. We may one day use the two feeding bowls that came with it, but so far undecided about a pet.

To stay well and to have a  home are gigantic blessings.

Reading, painting, gardening, and journaling are a few pleasures that keep me from worrying too much.

Starting Over

When you are unhappy with a painting, you paint over it and start again.
First attempt

Second attempt

Sometimes I use my art journal pages to create flower paintings.
Happy explosions of color!

Another type of art journal page

A few real flower blooms are on the front porch.
This planter is a favorite of mine because its
 previous owner was my mother.
She truly loved gardening.
I don't have her green thumb.

A very emotional book

So many unique lives...past and present...
appreciating my own journey...you do the same.

HAPPY TUESDAY!

May Days

Gosh, May will be gone before I can make a few posts. My plan was to post before or on Mother's Day, but time gets away. Mother's Day has become a bittersweet celebration. I miss my own mother so much. Sometimes emotion hits me out of nowhere on ordinary days, and I feel such a great loss.  There's no going back to sweeter days when she was alive and with me. So forward it is...until we meet again.

Dear cards, messages, phone calls, flowers, and gifts helped the day pass with thanksgiving. I'm so glad to be Mom and Grams.

Garden blooms and baby kittens have made some days extra special.

Oreo had four kittens this time. Nicolas and Lucas picked out their favorite to take home.

 Jo(father of Nicolas and Lucas)gave
me two Knockout Roses on Mother's Day.  That very day he was happy to dig and get them in the ground.

Happiness is

In the month of June

June is a special month for us. My husband and I get to celebrate our anniversary on two different dates. Twenty-five years ago we were married by Ms. Clara McMillin in a simple but meaningful ceremony at the Covington Courthouse on June 8th. Later on June 30th we had another ceremony at Quito United Methodist Church with our children standing up front with us as we said our vows before family and a few friends.

June has been a busy month so far with frequent checks on Mother's care and also caring for grandkids.

Selfies...ugh!

Blank pages and a blank canvas are waiting on me.

I did change the cover of my simple journaling book...from that black cover with etc to what you see below.

With all the rain we've been having our garden has some new blooms.

enjoying one day at a time...

Snatches of Time

Reading, journaling, making art, and decorating are among my pastimes. Sometimes it's necessary to carve out portions of time to do them. In today's mail there was the June issue of Country Living. The best part was the article by Mary Randolph Carter. What soothing minutes of reading about collecting and decorating tips!

One Mother's Day gift was a hardback copy of Gone Girl. I'm only on page seventy, but these first chapters have me hooked. Must squeeze in more time to read.

Gorgeous morning provided soothing time outside to water plants, fill birdbaths, and pull some weeds. Later I strolled around with my camera.

Precious time...I hope you are finding time to do the things you love, to be with those you love.
