Autumn Vibes

 We are a couple of days away from autumn, but I've been decorating ahead of time. Just couldn't wait until the official date. 

Autumn Mood

September is halfway over, and I've added small autumn touches here and there.

I love the month of September, even with the hot days we've been having. But cooler temperatures are coming, and that should be nice. Hope you are enjoying the ninth month, too.

Centerpiece

A sweet friend gave me this three tiered tray, and I have been puttering with it for days, having fun adding pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, and leaves.

To Welcome Autumn

Making a few changes here at home to welcome one of my favorite seasons.
I am using old pieces I have had for years.

My purchase this year was the wooden tray painted mustard  gold.

Outside are a few fall touches. There's only one real pumpkin for now. I chose it for its big stem.

Have a beautiful week as we welcome autumn's arrival on Saturday.

Thoughts and prayers continue for the many families in South and North Carolina. There's no place like home. 

Town Squares

Fall days are the perfect time to explore old town squares. Since I was in Covington to renew my car tag, this gave me an opportunity to stop by the square. Decorations of autumn flowers, pumpkins, and scarecrows were everywhere.

Changing of the Seasons

Fall is the perfect time to try out some new vignettes.

Thought I would like this Pinterest idea with wooden bowl and pine cones for the dining table, but after a few days I changed back to teapot and napkin holder.

I remember these shadow boxes were popular in the 70's. 

Gee, I miss that decade! 

 For me it meant 

 first job,

 first apartment,

 first love,

 first dream 

 home, and

 first baby.

But as we all know life brings changes...some better, some worse. It's a journey worth living in spite of rough bumps and unexpected curves.

Double Duty

This child's play cabinet was used on the mantel one Christmas.  This time it has taken on a different look as I changed some accessories to get ready for fall.

The poor little cabinet is rather dingy-looking, but I am reluctant to alter its appearance.

 This highchair sits near the back door. Usually the wood bowl holds after school candy treats for the grandsons.
