Little Bits of Happiness

Happy to get my first vaccine.

Happy to be inside on this wintry day.

Happy to have reached the letter W in the Tuesday Instagram alphabet challenge.
I posted Willow Tree for my entry. Love these figures for their simplicity and beauty as they convey powerful emotions.

"Heart and Soul" is a special one in my collection.

Happy to mail some art tags I had made.

Happy to post today and wish you a Happy Valentine's Day on Sunday.

More Little Things

Sometimes things just come together...an old frame from the recent estate sale; the card image I once displayed on the windowsill in mother's room at the nursing home; the Willow Tree Mother Daughter gift from friends Alice and Carla after Mother's passing.

These two types of  miniature books came from my Grandmother Crum. I had more, but sold three bundles in the store booth. One bundle had little books of poetry. What was I thinking? Should have been a hoarder that day.

Some time ago this Goodwill metal piece held balls of twine over in the art studio. I moved it to hold the tiny red books.

Sometimes the oddest little things attract my attention. This sturdy
 saucer turned up at Goodwill.

Not sure what I want to place under the glass.

The smiling bookworm will do for now. He stayed on my kitchen windowsill until he was promoted to the living room. All because of the lone saucer.

Well, those are some little things that add glee around here.

P.S. Keep dreaming, moving, and smiling.

Only Objects but Full of Meaning

"These are my treasures, and I love them all...they fill my home with mirth."
-George E. Davenport

Small framed art came from Frisco Mercantile in Texas. It made me think of spring.

Sign and C letter(cut from a Reader's Digest) were other Mercantile finds.
Lauren, Pennee, and I were together for a short afternoon shopping excursion to check out this one store. It was an enjoyable hour that lingers as a memory.

My Willow Tree collection got a new member on Monday. On that day I met Alice and Carla in Jackson for lunch at The Carriage House Tearoom. They stunned me with a surprise gift. It's the seated Mother and Daughter figurine, second one from the left. They explained it was given in memory of my mother and for the close bond she and I shared.

This flower frog with the pink embellishments was a sweet little find at Yarbro's Antique Mall in Jackson.

In the background is a Goodwill find. The file rack holds sets of tags.

frames over in the studio

Bird girl statue may soon leave the art room for a spot in the garden.

Today is the first day of spring. Hooray!!!

A bit of rambling...

favorite chair
I love to sink into this chair. It has a prominent place in the den. Grandkids like it, too. Toys and crumbs end up along  its sides and on the floor. The ottoman is popular with the little ones as a bouncing seat.
A flea market wood pedestal was added to the kitchen to hold our Roma tomatoes. Also new to the kitchen is the lovely lady on the clip magnet. Pennee gave me the Kelly Rae Roberts surprise on Mother's Day.

Home

This morning I had a dental appointment, and the first magazine I picked up in the waiting room had this quote - "Home is a gift to be opened every day." - Mary Anne Radmacher

How special and soothing it is to be inside one's own home with personal mementoes, treasures from friends, art you've collected, family pictures, books, etc. I have been trying to add comforting touches to my mom's room at the health care facility - a handmade quilt, a charming pitcher for pens and pencils, a basket of books and magazines, and a few framed pictures. But she doesn't seem interested in any of them...they were part of another place that was home. Her age and illness have made me realize anew that we are here for just a little while. We are caretakers of our homes and collections and possessions for a short time. Nevertheless, our homes are resting places for the objects we love. and those objects reveal a lot about us. Being at home...such a familiar and protective space...a gift.

Wednesday Wishes

Willow Tree Heart and Soul

Would love to be able to sit and talk with you. Sometimes our lives get so busy we have a tough time snatching time to have a quiet talk with a good friend, to write that special letter, or to make a much needed phone call. Sometimes it's hard to find the right words to express what's on the mind or say what's felt in the heart. I wish I wouldn't put off doing these things that are important. I wish to be more understanding, more loving, more creative, and more productive. Thanks for checking back in and may you have a wonderful Wednesday.
