February makes me think of love notes, valentine cards, boxes of candy, and just everything that's special and sweet. Goodness knows, our world needs more kindness and sweetness. I had a true surprise as I was going through a box of old mementos. Inside there were old notes, letters, and three old valentine cards. I love vintage valentine cards and was excited to stumble across these. Two were from a grammar school boyfriend, and the other one was from a junior high friend.
In grade school Burl and I played piano pieces and sang together in school programs.
My mother kept a scrapbook for me and also one for my brother. The pages, now faded and brittle, cover from birth through grammar school( grades 1 thru 5). The photo and clipping below also brought back memories.
The two long dresses in the pictures were made by my mother. She also sewed dance costumes and school dresses for a little girl that had plenty of confidence back then. Ah, how sweet those times were!
