Bittersweet Ending

Setting up my booth was a lot easier than taking it down. Leftover items were donated to Goodwill and Amvets. My sweet corner cabinet came home to the apartment bedroom, and a few other furniture pieces were stored in the white shed for now.

It was sad in a way when the Bits and Pieces banner came down.

The Christmas Open House signup sheets were already on the front counter, but I won't have to worry about a door prize, food item, or work time this year. If I go that December day it will be as a casual shopper.

Booth Decision

After nine years I have decided to close Bits and Pieces, Booth #89. October will be the final month. It has been an amazing experience. I have enjoyed meeting other vendors as well as friendly shoppers at Plantation Antiques and Collectibles in Millington. 

No Title

Sometimes I can not think of a post title. I can't even get my thoughts to flow for a post. However, I will share a few pictures and offer a few comments.

A new month has begun so I decided to work on the booth this afternoon.

It is time to part with certain things.

Tins are not selling well these days, but I still have a soft spot for them.

One of my very first collections was tins.

This white marble alphabet is a "don't really want to sell" item.

Our twenty-six letter alphabet fascinates me because all our words are formed

by combinations of those 26 amazing letters.  

I really like some of the messages. This alphabet chart that has been in the booth a very long time. I decided to take a picture today in case it disappears when I least expect it.

 Oh, the joy of reading! Thank goodness for our alphabet, words, and stories.

Booth Time

I managed to get a few more selections out to Booth #89. It's a new month that will pass all too quickly. This copper bucket speaks autumn to me. But it may get passed over and hang there for months. That's part of the fun of having a booth -seeing what sells. 

Maybe in May

It's rather interesting to see what sells from month to month. You just never know which items will be picked by shoppers. Sometimes things are snapped up right away while others sit on a shelf for a long, long time.  

Years ago my first collections were baskets and tins. These days I search for pottery, oil paintings, and unique picture frames for family photos.

Some characters stay in your mind long after you finish a book. Ridley Cooper and Olivia Aberdeen are the central characters in this post Civil War novel. The setting is Nashville's Historic Belle Meade Plantation. Maybe my next book will be as enjoyable.

 

Some decorative decisions make you continually happy. So glad I didn't pass this rug up. Thank you, Tuesday Morning! Every day for years I've enjoyed its rich colors...my favorites...brown, rust, green, and gold. Maybe there's another exciting find awaiting me in May.    

Maybe the weather will be pleasant this weekend. My brother and I are taking a trip to see Indiana relatives.

Christmas Tidings

Christmas cards are starting to arrive, and I love receiving them. This year I'm using toast and napkin racks to display them.

Every year I know not to buy any more Christmas items. But every year I fail. Two recent finds were a glitter house from Charlene's and a Thomas Kinkade ornament from Plantation Antiques.

The top of my bookcase is full this year.

The Christmas Open House at Plantation Antiques was held Saturday. I was happy the unsmiling lady and box of Aunt Geneva's ornaments found new homes.

This is always my favorite room in December.

Love to spend time here gazing at the tree ornaments or reading with a cup of coffee.

Miscellaneous

Another school year comes to a close.

For grandson Gunner it meant his eighth grade graduation. My, he has grown up fast!

Art room is still my quiet place. Bird images and words have  come together for recent creations. At Goodwill I picked up the white dish with the bird on a twig.

Spice has been taking good care of her kittens. All four are staying inside the shed, but soon they will venture out to explore.

Not sure how much longer I will keep my booth open. Business has been slow, and it's getting harder to find replacement items.

Spring is Tardy

My calendar page box said Spring for today. But I have to disagree 'cause we had chill, wind, and even a brief flurry of snow. One mild day this past week I did clean out flowerbeds. That put me in the mood for new plantings, warmer days, and flower blooms.  


I have had my head buried in a very good book that a friend loaned to me.

Unforgettable characters spanning three generations in fictitious Howbutker, Texas, will keep you turning pages.

I keep bringing home quirky one dollar finds -
a thin wooden plaque with a perfect quote, a colorful container with peculiar designs, and a paper heart of many colors. 
















                                                                                                  

A few Easter decorations are out. 

I put together another small canvas.

   I've been working a little on my booth. It needs revamping.

I was hoping someone would purchase the lantern to display a cute Easter rabbit with a few eggs or maybe

buy this sweet Teena Flanner collectible.  

But so far no takers.

When I was in Texas I purchased this soft green pitcher from an antique store in the old part of Celina. The shop is a real treasure trove, and the lovely, elderly couple encourage browsing.

Well, that's a summary for this Sunday evening. Hopefully spring is just around the corner.
