November Notes

For days I have wanted to make a post but lacked the motivation to write and share thoughts. Weird feelings about life, our country, and our world seem to occupy my mind. Prayer, Bible readings, and sermons help to quiet my worrisome thoughts.

So here goes...a few good things about November thus far.

Son Ryan had a birthday on November 2. He's now 45. He sends me text messages that make me smile.

Corkey's high school class had their yearly reunion on November 4. Members tried not to dwell on the sadness of missing classmates.

Daughter Lauren is handling a busy schedule. I have helped her a few times with Tallulah and Etta, but she's the one doing a fantastic job with the girls and maintaining her CPA business.

Son Jason and Corkey helped me set up my wall display and table booth for the Quito Market on November 11.

My latest artwork

I saw this art picture on Pinterest and wanted to try one.

It sold first at my booth.

It was a disappointing day since I only sold two pictures.

This person was very happy with her purchase, and that made me happy.

P.S.
After the sale I gave these two away.

Cluttered Mind

My head thoughts often weigh me down. I think too much about people and places from my past. I stay concerned about issues and problems of our world today. Caring thoughts about individuals I know and love dart in and out of my brain. Sometimes I have to pause and clear my head. And that's when reading a book or painting or art journaling come in handy. Prayer and Bible reading also help.

It seems I often turn to painting angels when I'm in the mood to do art.

This month's activities included Corkey's class reunion, a visit to Campbell Clinic to set up an appointment for Cork's carpel tunnel procedure, and a 15th birthday for grandson Nicolas.

We never thought old age would come so fast. We remember when we were fifteen, and high school was a major part of our lives. Nicolas is now in that stage of life.

Seasons come and go...
               and changes follow.

Calendar Shock

This month is moving too fast. I am in disbelief. But September is always a full month. There's Corkey's birthday on the 1st and Lauren's on the 9th and then throw in Labor Day and Corkey's class reunion. And more events are coming.

  LABOR DAY
Hey, I see my baked beans and slaw!
My mom would be so proud that I use her recipes, and that these side dishes taste great with the delicious barbecue.

One of the best parts about Labor Day is sharing the event with friends you haven't seen in a while.

My "little girl" is now 37. Oh, the blessings and joys she has given me!
Where did the years go?

Corkey and I did not attend the same high schools. We met in our twenties and later reconnected in our forties.

Oh, gosh, what happened to us!
We got OLD!
We have been married 29 years.

Eventful September

*First, there was the annual Labor Day Barbecue.

**Then it was my 50th class reunion.

***Next was the wedding of Lauren and Justin in Austin, Texas. On Friday evening a relaxing rehearsal dinner was provided at Torchy's, and on Saturday a unique and beautiful outdoor ceremony was held at Zilker Clubhouse. A party followed with food, drinks, live music, and dancing.

Ryan flew in from California to be at his sister's wedding.

Many candid and professional photos were taken. Some of the most beautiful were taken at night to show the strands of lights, the Austin skyline, and the harvest moon behind the state capital.

****One more event to go which will be Corkey's 54th class reunion this weekend.

Today is the first day of autumn, and I am ready for my favorite season.
What about you? Are you ready for the colorful beauty of fall?
