A Quick Hello

The first two weeks of October were not too pleasant due to Corkey's carpal tunnel surgery. There were days of pain and discomfort plus many ice pack treatments to ease the swelling. Thankfully his hand is better and also his mood. 

Tallulah's visit was a happy day. She liked the basket of wooden pumpkins but would not smile for pictures.

Will try to write more next time.

OCTOBER needs to slow down.

Fall in Love with Fall

 All my life I have loved this time of the year. Crisp weather, football games, festivals, sweaters and jackets, and all the colorful beauty...what's not to love. I've added a few more fall touches inside the house. Nothing new...just what I already had.

In years past I would buy real pumpkins at the grocery store or from a roadside stand. Now I prefer fake ones because you can use them again and again. Hey, I'm thinking a trip to Hobby Lobby might be in order. The outside porch and planters could use a few more pumpkins.

Moving On

 September is not waiting around. She's passing quickly. And honestly I cannot understand how fast these weeks have slipped by.

 

Corkey and I have enjoyed the last days of summer and the first fall days in our backyard swing.

Fall decorating has begun. 

This little vintage child's cabinet was moved off the mantel to the trunk near my easy chair. I'm forever moving and changing home decor pieces that I've had for years.

Before I end this post I want to share a photo of a very special lady, my Aunt Clara Belle Crum. She turned 104 on September 20th. Even though she had to leave her lovely home, adjust to a memory care facility, and is recovering from a recent stroke, she keeps her beautiful smile.

  

Uncertain Times

Due to the recent disturbing events in Memphis I thought I'd mention some lighter moments in this post. 

Corkey had a birthday on September 1st. Here he was tearing up meat for Labor Day that was a scaled down version with a gathering of Clowes and Tolley families.  Lauren also had a birthday on the ninth of September.(P. S. I don't think Corkey and Lauren were very thrilled about their advancing ages.) 

 This past week I've been nursing a cold, but before that I was puttering and changing things around once again. I'm ready for fall pumpkins to come out of storage.

I have been sharing my zinnias on Facebook and Instagram so why not here, too. I'm in love with these sweet flowers.

 This new week is supposed to bring lots of sunshine with low humidity.

Cluttered Mind

 My head thoughts often weigh me down. I think too much about people and places from my past. I stay concerned about issues and problems of our world today. Caring thoughts about individuals I know and love dart in and out of my brain. Sometimes I have to pause and clear my head. And that's when reading a book or painting or art journaling come in handy. Prayer and Bible reading also help.

It seems I often turn to painting angels when I'm in the mood to do art.

This month's activities included Corkey's class reunion, a visit to Campbell Clinic to set up an appointment for Cork's carpel tunnel procedure, and a 15th birthday for grandson Nicolas. 

We never thought old age would come so fast. We remember when we were fifteen, and high school was a major part of our lives. Nicolas is now in that stage of life.

Seasons come and go...

               and changes follow.

About August

 This month I have always associated with my parents because of two special days. My dad's birthday was on August 18, and my parents married on August 17. Occasionally I would even get these side-by-side dates mixed up. So every year when August rolls around I think of these two dates.

I love these early pictures of my dad.

I love these photos of Mom and Dad as a young couple.

I love this photo of them in their later years.

Therefore, tomorrow will be a special day and also the day after. Gosh, I miss them! Every day I think of them and appreciate all they did for me. I was blessed by their love and guidance.
