Yipes! August Already!

 Even with the terrible heat I want to appreciate this final month of summer. I have been enjoying the flowers that are still blooming. Such happy colors!

Inside where there's air conditioning I enjoy art time. I keep adding pages to my art journal and hope one day to have it full.

Today I plan to do some painting. I bought a couple of larger canvases to layer on the colors. This little barn came about last week as I was trying to get back in the mood to paint.

Also wish I could get back in the mood to do more blog posts. I want to share my thoughts but have a hard time expressing myself these days. Sometimes my thoughts are too dark. So many changes have occurred that I don't fully understand. Gone are the safe days of my childhood. Today's young people have a very different experience.

Summer Days

 Even with the summer heat July has been a good month. Tallulah has mastered crawling. 

Her dad shared this picture of her standing. This little lady is getting stronger and braver.

Olga and Gunner returned from a visit to see relatives in Mexico. Olga brought back some lovely gifts for Tallulah, Lauren, and me.

Of course, I've been spending time over in the art room. I still love to paint flowers.

Wish I Could Think of a Title

 Tonight I'm just going to jump in and start writing about ordinary things. However, to me they are noteworthy.

Once again I have been rearranging a few things here at the house. Also tackling our weird den mantel that has the two vents and an outlet to hide. 

The placement of the two prints may be a bit odd, but I think I'm liking it.

My friend Carla has written a second book. She lives in Savannah, Tennessee, and shares within the book stories about people and places that have enriched her life. It's an interesting read with personal recollections and advice.

 

These delightful little blooms make me smile.

When my granddaughter was first born and there were complications I did this small painting to remind myself not to give up hope.

Tallulah is growing and thriving, and hopefully with patience, training, and lots of love she will be fine.

Happy 4th of July

 We were happy to spend it here at home. One son had lunch with us, and three grandsons dropped by for an afternoon visit. 

In the morning I had tackled a gardening chore which was a sweaty, hot job. But all the irises were cut back to fan shapes, and unwanted weeds were cleared away.

Late this afternoon Corkey and I sat in the backyard swing, appreciating the lawn, birds, and breezes.

We are thankful for the wonderful blessings of home and family in this great land of America.

Popping In

 Hi! This extreme heat in June is keeping me inside. I venture out to feed the birds and water our few porch and patio plants. 

Guess who joined us for Father's Day lunch?

Tallulah had a good time tasting and playing with potato salad. 

 

Gunner, Nick, and Lucas each wrote messages to their Granddad inside the card that Nick designed. The lawnmower and tall grass were perfect for the man who keeps our lawn beautiful even in sweltering heat. 

Looking Back

 Now and then we all tend to reminisce about the past. Pat, Alice, Carla, and I did some of that when we got together recently. We also made new memories as we prayed, ate, and talked. Family news, current events, and health issues were topics of discussion.

If the walls of Sprague Hall could talk, dreams and hopes of all the young girls would be revealed. Lambuth College became a part of those lives forever. That freshman year was new and different, and lasting friendships were formed. 

June Jitters

 Just thinking about how fast 2022 is moving along gives me the jitters. My goodness, June is already here. 

The state of the world and our own USA also gives me the jitters. 

To take my mind off such things I spend time in the studio space

or go outside.
