Goodbye to August

Another month has slipped away, and I am left wondering how can that be. Most of the time I was here at home avoiding the hot summer days. Thankfully there has been a recent change in the weather. Five female friends and I took a day trip to Sikeston, Missouri, to have lunch at Lambert's. Those hot rolls alone were worth the trip. This popular restaurant was bustling with a large crowd.

I watched Colleen crochet as we were on the road. Amazing how fast she was able to stitch a hot plate pad.

The pads are thick and beautifully done.
She gives them away as fast as she makes them.

I decided to give the mantel a different look.

I tried a painting in the kitchen window, but it didn't stay. It blocked too much of the outdoor view.

So I changed the window decor to this.

 Yes, I'm ready for fall.

HAPPY LAST WEEKEND for August 2025!

In The Middle

It's already the middle of August, and I'm just now posting in this new month.

I'll let these random pictures speak for me today.

Lauren took this picture of the girls on their first day back at daycare.

We enjoyed a supper meal just yesterday at Erwin's with friends. Right when I walked in I saw my dad's tiffany lamp still hanging in the restaurant.

The strangers in the photos probably wondered why I was taking pictures of the light fixture.

That's Bruce, Erika, and Corkey walking up front to pay for our delicious fish meals. The fish, french fries, hush puppies, white beans, and slaw were soooo good!

This photo shows the lamp in Mom and Dad's kitchen. He made it from a kit that was a Christmas gift in 1977.

I have many memories of Mom and me sitting, eating, and talking in her kitchen under that lamp.

How I would love to buy back that lamp! At the time of the house sale I didn't think about it and sure wish I had.
