Bird Art
The first pages in my new art journal were fun to do. The bird ideas came from other people on Pinterest.

Changes
Letters are almost extinct these days. Chatty emails have disappeared. Bloggers I have followed seldom post anymore. I suppose text messages and phone calls are the main forms of correspondence in 2020.
I only know of two friends who read my blog regularly, for they have told me they check daily to see if I have a new post. I appreciate their encouragement.
They inspire me to keep blogging. And it's something I do enjoy. Writing and photography have long been loves of mine.
To Joy, Beth, Summer, and a few others I miss communicating with you. Although we never met, I felt a connection with you. I wonder how you are and what is happening in your lives.
Of course, with this Covid-19 there have been changes. I ventured out wearing a mask in order to find a new sketchbook. I was pleased to find one with 80 acid free sheets at Ross. I am ready to be engrossed with painting so thoughts of Covid will be silenced for a while.

The New Normal
It is very hard to adjust to the new normal. When will life return to what we once enjoyed so freely? I miss hugs, gatherings, shopping without masks, etc.
I feel like my world has shrunk. But I realize there are blessings to appreciate and changes to come for the better. Holding on...

Artjoy
I gave a recent angel painting to someone special...the mom of three boys.
I just completed this next one. I had tried it once before and painted over it.
This last one is simple, but it suits me.

Some other artists have successfully captured this whimsical look at Memphis on the river. Oh well, this one is a little better than my first attempt.

Celebrating
In spite of an unusual graduation ceremony it turned out to be a day of special memories. May 16, 2020 - an unforgettable day for Munford High School seniors that they will long remember.

Collecting Art
I never tire of the art I have collected over the years.
Scattered here and there throughout the house these art pieces are familiar sights that bring continuous enjoyment.
I have others,
but
these
are
enough
for tonight.

Memories, Motherhood, and Mother's Day
Mother's Day...an emotional day for me, and I suspect it is for many others, too.
Becoming a mother is a momentous event, and I experienced it twice. I'm so thankful for the wonder and joy of motherhood, the blessings of a son and daughter.
Even though I had wonderful phone calls, text messages, sweet cards with handwritten messages, and lovely flowers there was still an emptiness and sadness about the day. I'm sure a lot had to do with missing my own mom. Also

But for me Mother's Day is about my own mom. And thoughts of her are many on that special day and other days. I was glancing through a simple journaling notebook and came across this picture page. Yes, the bond between mothers and daughters is definitely strong.

this year there's the coronavirus and the necessity of social distancing. Plus some of the kids and grandkids live very far away. So you take the happy with the sad and move on.

Pretty in Pink
Such a beautiful day!
I'm fond of this recent flower painting because of the colors.
With Mother's Day approaching I decided to pull out some wonderful photos of my mother. I love the one of her in the pink gown. She shared that it was a borrowed dress from a girlfriend.
