Changing Times

It is extremely sad when a church closes. Once thriving with a large membership and an amazing history, its rooms are now silent. Inside its walls are breathtaking images of beauty.

I do not know what will happen to this building. Hopefully the stained glass windows, light fixtures, doors, and arches will be saved if it is torn down. I felt blessed to view the inside of this beautiful church.

Sandy, it touched my heart that you took the opportunity to visit the facilities at Highland Heights United Methodist Church with your pastor, Richard Cook, and a few members of your church in Drummonds, TN. As you know, I grew up in that church and have many wonderful memories of the fine people and pastors who were a part of Highland Heights. The Billingsley family including my immediate family, grandparents, aunt and uncle and their two sons were all members there. That church family helped form the person I am today. I learned Jesus’ teachings and principles that have guided me through my lifetime and I was blessed by so many wonderful Sunday School teachers and pastors as well as mentors and friends. Sandy, thank you, too, for the mementoes you were allowed to get and pass on to me. I, too, hope the building will not be torn down. It is definitely holy ground to me and countless others!

Thanks for sharing your feelings
about Highland Heights UMC.
I wish with all my heart it could
remain an operating church for
the community.
