Color Combinations

Such a beautiful day!
Outside I'm loving purple and pink .

Inside I'm into blues and greens.

This planter came from Hobby Lobby, thanks to a Christmas gift card I wanted to use up. Not sure what kind of houseplant will go into it.

These books were picked from a Goodwill Bargain Center pile because of the colors and handsome spines.

I had the nest with brown eggs, but found the gray bird on a recent thrifting day.

April has been the perfect month for colors.
Wish the flowers could last forever.

Change-ups

One friend told me she rarely changes her decor. Once she finds a place for something there it stays. Sometimes I leave objects in the same place, but usually I tend to try out new locations.

Brass owl came down from his high perch on the architectural piece to hide behind the letter S on a desktop. Squirrel moved from an end table to the piano. Green plates left the top of the refrigerator to be a part of the hutch. Moving objects is my indoor pastime.

There's a person I follow on Instagram.
She has a bamboo-look brass tray that she uses in her decorating.
I was so happy to spot one at Goodwill.  It was very tarnished.
I was pleasantly surprised to uncover the letter C in the center.
Now to add the right pieces to create an interesting vignette.

If you want to see beautiful things and a unique decorating style visit Megillicutti on Instagram. Melissa Parks is a Chicago area vintage and antiques dealer. I look forward to her every post.

Pleasurable Hours

This picture turned out better than I thought it would because I was so far away from the church. I was sitting in Corkey's truck this morning waiting on him to buy a lawnmower belt. Through the windshield my trusty Kodak Easy Share  C613 came through for me. Next we had a relaxing late breakfast at IHOP. After that we headed in different directions.

You probably know where I headed. Yes, you guessed it. To a flea market.

I found a few things for the booth and a couple of items for myself.

I liked the color of these books and the fake eyeglasses decoration.

I have been going through some old journals and bookmarking certain passages. It is amazing to find details I had completely forgotten. One such example is the foot locker in the picture below. It belonged to my dad. I had written about using gold leaf to bring out the hardware on it.

By the way everything on the foot locker are pieces I acquired when flea marketing at different times and places.

Before I close two more photos because I still love my desk, and the book  by Susan Branch is wonderful. She writes in diary form and illustrates the pages with her drawings and photos.

Oh, I wish I could visit England!
I don't have a bucket list, but if I did England would be on it.

Flower Greeting

HELLO!

 Good Morning!

Good Afternoon!
I'm working on this new canvas.  Have more details and layers to add.

Tonight I watched the documentary "Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper" for the second time. Fascinating material. Historical events, art, fashion, glamour, tragedies, personal letters and family pictures, heartfelt conversation - it's all there.

So much happens in a person's life, and you don't have to be rich and famous to have a unique life.

Time for lights out on another day.

A Borrowed Idea

Creative journaling pages as well as art techniques are abundant on Pinterest . I came across one that I really liked by Caitlin Dundon. She showed a mixed media collage sample and recommended "Put a Bird on It." I borrowed her idea and decided to use  letters and a bird image to fill a painted canvas.

I'm fond of the color green.
I guess that's why I have green bottles on a windowsill.
Spring and green do go together.

Fairy House Tradition

This time both Nicolas and Lucas worked on the fairy home. Lucas kept me company in the garden for a longer time so he ended up in these photos.

Not one fairy sighting, but a healthy bee came by. Our cat Spice also checked out what was happening.

A few days ago we thought Spice was gone for good. She had slipped into the storage shed without our knowledge and had spent several nights there locked inside. She captured a couple of mice during her stay and proved to be okay after her confinement.
