Putting Away and Rearranging

It's part of the celebration...the not so pleasant job of packing away. I always hope to be able to do it again next year.

I made a few minor changes while getting the house back to its usual state. Many familiar objects were returned to their regular places.

The year 2021 was full of ups and downs. The greatest blessing arrived in March.

Happy New Year!

Holiday Touches

Well, this is another post of Christmas decorating. Hope you enjoy. I sure have enjoyed getting the house Christmasy for the soon- to-be celebration with family this year.

This sweet Christmas scene was a Goodwill find. I have past memories of cutting down a live tree for the holidays.

A thrift store in Munford had this snowman for $2.50. I took off the wrapped box that was glued to it and added the glass tree in its place. It may not be old, but it has a vintage look. He's kicking up one leg and proudly lifting the small decorated tree.

Feeling blessed tonight.

Holiday Time

It is special to bring out treasured Christmas items that have been stored away.

very fond of these sweet angels

It's been a few years since I used the letter blocks to spell out Merry Christmas.

This is one figurine I leave on the bookcase year round.
Memories of Yesterday 1988 Mabel Lucie Attwell "Is It Really Santa?"

A Santa I saved from my mother's collection

I added the two little white houses at the far ends this year. Several small houses I usually put on top of this bookcase ended up on the tree in the living room.

This photo kept turning out crooked. After several tries to straighten it, I just gave up. But as you can see I'm building a collection of small white houses. I really shouldn't but they are so darn cute.

I have a weakness when it comes to Christmas decorations. Do you?

Oh Christmas Trees, Oh Christmas Trees

Decorated trees tell a story of memories. At least mine do. I love to bring out the wonderful ornaments every December.

The tree in the den has an old-fashioned theme. Many of the ornaments are inexpensive and made of wood. I mixed in a few vintage Shiny Brite ones.

I like the white lights, and Corkey prefers the colored ones. It's nice to rotate the color choices.

The living room tree has many Hallmark ornaments as well as family photos. The lighted and motion ornaments are fun to view.

I wish I could share every ornament. There are stories that go with so many of them. Gazing on the special gift ornaments from family and friends is especially heartwarming. Others are delightful finds from thrifting jaunts. There's no doubt I like all sorts of ornaments and love displaying them at Christmastime.

Merry Decorating

December is certainly the best time of the year to celebrate and go a little crazy with decorating. I am still trying out different ideas. What you see today may change tomorrow, but it's fun to piddle with arrangements. I enjoy looking through old December issues to inspire and motivate me to change.

Instead of the brass deer on top of the piano I decided to use "Santa's Ice-Capades."
Years ago I bought the skating Santa at a gift shop in Bartlett. I was fascinated by all the details in this figurine.

The glass tree collection has been gathered over the years.

Below is a new decoration I purchased at Burkes Outlet for its simplicity in telling the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

The wood and metal are very striking together. This is resting on a tabletop beside some books and a reading lamp.

The desk in my clothes closet got a new look. Jason applied black gel paint to the very top and to the writing surface.

I almost hate to junk it up with my desk stuff.

More merry decorating to come...

Changing Decor

All the pumpkins have gone back into storage.

This Thanksgiving was extra special since we missed it last year.

Tallulah's First Thanksgiving

Ryan took this picture just before Lauren and Justin were getting ready to head home. Tallulah had a tiring day as she was greeted and held by many. She was a good sport being part of our noisy bunch.

Jo and Jeri stayed to help bring tree boxes down from the attic and string the lights. Thanks to Jo's electrical know-how he's able to make the motion/light
ornaments work on the strands of lights.

I'm excited to have two trees this year. In the living room is the older and bigger tree. In the den there's the prelit tree we purchased last year. My idea for its placement worked after we moved one piece of furniture.

I spent Friday and Saturday decorating them with wonderful ornaments that hold so many memories. I'm sure I'll be sharing more photos of the trees later.

I am starting to pull out other Christmas items. It's not easy trying to decide where they should go.

And little Tallulah has her photo ornament on the tree.
