Letting Go

I am parting with more and more things. It's hard when you have kept items for   years. But more and more I feel the need to reduce my load of possessions. However, if you were to visit my home, you wouldn't see much of a reduction. There's an abundance of stuff. Why? Because I love crocks, baskets, cups and saucers, books, paintings, clocks, photographs, pitchers, creamers, statues, and lots of other odds and ends. Someone somewhere is enjoying the wire baby carriage, and it makes me feel good to know that.

Time is flying...

Time is flying or so it seems. It's already the middle of May in this new year.

My Mother's Day was lovely. Children may not realize how much parents treasure their time and affection over gifts. The handwritten messages inside cards and the spoken words go straight to the heart.

My own mother seemed quieter on Sunday. She listened as those in the room did most of the talking. I am blessed by her presence and try not to be sad that Alzheimer's has taken away her feisty personality. Every once in a while there's a tiny glimpse of her independent spirit.

My mother enjoyed gardening. As I may have mentioned before, I didn't always get my mother's fascination with plants. Years went by before I understood her love of gardening. Whenever I see blooms in the yard, there are immediate thoughts of Mother. She instilled so much into my life. I will be forever grateful.

Yesterday I experienced some sort of "bug" and spent today resting and getting my strength back. Not sure what caused my body ailments but am happy to be feeling better.

Until next time...

Treasure Hunting

When things sell at the booth, it's time to restock by doing a little treasure hunting. It seems I always find something I want to keep. This metal bucket is tempting me, but my plans are to fill with dried wheat and hang a price tag on it. It could hold fresh flowers or paintbrushes or wooden spoons. It has lots of possibilities. It was a $3 Goodwill purchase.

Now another $5 Goodwill buy is staying with me. It was the last piece needed to fill up the wall behind our den couch. Did you spot it?

I like simple stitchery. Of course, it doesn't compare with beautiful stitchery that many bloggers have mastered.

The saying and the tree in its four seasons suited me at first glance.

It's wonderful that our different "treasures" end up in new locations.

Welcome

Hello and welcome.
 Thanks for being here.

Here's an idea you might like...using magnets to hold family recipes on a serving tray. This one hangs in our dining room.

Ms. Olivia was my mentor when I was a beginning teacher.

I hope your Sunday has been relaxing. Mine was because of church, family lunch, and visit with Mother.

Letting You Know

There's no newsy topic...just a few ramblings.

I stumbled upon find some pale green shower curtain rings to hold my scarves. Thanks to Pinterest! I am thrilled with the countless inspiration at this site and that so many individuals share their marvelous ideas.

In the garden more blooms are making their appearance. Hollyhocks are opening up to my delight. They have such an old-fashioned charm.

I bought this rack a few years ago but never could find the right place for it in my house. I picture it in a light kitchen with pretty blue and white dishes.

Also in the booth is a simple country rocking chair that needs a fresh coat of paint.

Latest small find at Goodwill was this bowl for its special color

Until next time happy dreams...day or night.
