Cork and Les

Mother, Lauren, and me

pizza, ice cream cake, cards, and roses

tree time

stringing of lights that I didn't have to do

Our Thanksgiving gathering was one of the best. The days with Les and Pennee passed too quickly. The fact that they're returning at Christmas made it a little easier to say goodbye.

Thank you for being here, and let's always remember to count our blessings.

A Visit to the Booth

I always enjoy making changes to the booth. It relaxes me and takes my mind off serious matters. As you can see I added a few Christmas items.

Earth Angels

As my mother undergoes much therapy after hip surgery, she is helped by skilled workers. Several therapists are amazingly thoughtful and sweet. One earth angel is named Lindsay.

It's crazy the way people are drawn to different objects. Sometimes there's no explaining why a particular item is a must have. Tonight after writing in my journal about my visit with Mother, I pulled out the camera from my purse's side pocket and snapped a few objects that are comforting to me. By the way, all these trinkets reside in my craft/clothes closet - a space I truly appreciate. The ANTIQUES sign was a September find at Marshall's. I didn't need it, but liked the way the letters were linked together, and of course, I love antiques! Now I realize that may be one of my last true shopping outings with Mother. The wood block with a painted scene for each season is an object my mom had for a long time...I remember exactly where she kept it in her former home. Little things often have big meanings.

Beautiful Poem

This poem hangs on my closet wall. It is one of the loveliest definitions of love I have ever read. I scanned it, but you will need to double click on the poem to view the enlargement and read these beautiful words.

In a Sentimental Mood

I confess I have saved way too much through the years. I have a tendency to cling to happy past memories(and if I am honest, some painful ones, too). That stationery box was a high school graduation gift, and the select few love letters inside are sweet, sentimental relics of other times and places. One day I will probably toss them, but for now they stay in the pretty box high up on the closet shelf.

Both Ways

single, alone, independent

together, dependent, united

The struggle to have some of both in our lives...alone time and shared time.

Falling Fast

The leaves are falling fast,

The colors will soon be gone,

Bare gray branches

won't be as inspiring,

but wait,
let's savor

these last days of fall.

Hope your Sunday afternoon weather is nice like ours. West Tennessee is having a perfect autumn day. It's even warm and sunny.

Hello Friends

"The real things haven't changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong." -Laura Ingalls Wilder

P. S. Plan to take my camera on the way to the Rehab Hospital and capture some autumn beauty. Beautiful outside...loving fall...cherishing every day.

Change of Plans

Halloween morning my mom fell and had to be taken to the emergency room. She broke her hip and had surgery Sunday morning. She is still at the hospital, very weak physically and mentally. I came home last night for rest. In a short while I will be returning to the hospital to relieve my brother. I may not be blogging for a while, and I wanted you to know why.
