October Moods

Whether inside or outside the colors of fall bring contentment.

Soon this bedroom will be changed. This bookcase has already been cleared of photo albums. They were transferred to the entry bookcase.

Son Jo will take the desk/bookcase unit to his house. The antique bed will be stored for now. A bedroom suite from my mother's apartment will be in this room. We are trying to empty out the apartment for Les and Pennee. For several months they will need it as their new house is being built. Even my art nook will be moved to an area in the garage. Lots of changes are ahead.

Took time yesterday to carve this year's jack-o'-lantern.

This ceramic jack-o'-lantern was given to me by my mom.
Sometimes I feel so strange and lonely without her.

A beautiful Sunday in God's beautiful world offers peace of mind.

Shoebox Ministry

It's that time of year again. I really enjoy packing a boy and a girl Christmas shoebox. A shoebox fills up fast once you include a toothpaste and brush set, soap and washcloth, crayons, pens and pencils, books, journals, and small
toys. With so much misery in different parts of the world I feel this ministry
brings some joy and perhaps hope to young lives.

Time To Let Go

Motherhood and the precious years that followed caused me to save way too much. I guess I wanted to hang on to those happy years. I made myself go through eleven Christmas boxes, discarding them but keeping a few special mementoes that were inside. There were mostly Christmas books, school ornaments, advent calendars, and simple toys. It's odd that Ryan won't remember the years that meant so much to me. I took a picture of each Christmas box and parted with numerous odds and ends. It was time to let go of what was.

Trees

We are blessed to have trees on our property.  Every year I look forward to the turning of the leaves. Only a few more weeks to wait.

October's Start

On October 1st we were in Plano, Texas, for our granddaughter Kiera's 5th birthday party. It was held at Safari Run and had a Pokemon theme.

Pennee even made sure the grownups had Pokemon shirts. It was a fun    weekend observing and interacting with Kiera and Chloe. They are growing up so fast.

This week has been a rather normal one...just trying to get back on a schedule that includes exercising, household chores, reading, journal writing, etc. However, yesterday I did take an antiquing day with a sweet friend. We learned that Antique Gallery in Bartlett will be closing at year's end. We browsed the many booths before eating lunch at the tea room there. Sad to think it will soon be gone.

our table

Well, the bus will run in about twenty minutes, and three grandsons will be
arriving, hungry and needing an after school snack. I also need to start spaghetti for supper. There's a good chance they will stay and eat with us. Hope you are having a great start to October. It seems to be a busy month for everyone. In fact, I don't know of anyone who doesn't like October.
