Christmas in July

On this last day of July I had a bit of free time so you see what I did. After a few days when they are completely dry I'll use a dab of white glue on them to add a tiny bit of glitter. I love the way these salt dough ornament tags turn out. Thanks again to Abigail Mooney(http://www.percyandbloom.com/down-abbies-road/) whose tags are truly divine. I'm going to be on the lookout for that bird and the butterfly stamp. Love 'em! You can see Abbie's lovely tags under her Archives December 2009.

Busy Day

  • dental appointment
  • MacDonald's lunch with grandson Garrett
  • ice cream treats at Baskin Robbins(Yeah! Enough time had passed so I was able to have something and tried a Cappuccino Blast. Really refreshing!)
  • bookstore stop to ask about a particular book that Pennee had recommended...no luck
  • post office to send a "Do Not Bend" package to a friend
  • visit with Mother
  • No wonder studio art time is not happening. Maybe one day soon...

Middle of the Week

Time marches on. I have been...

puttering around the house,

enjoying the grandkids,

watering to keep garden plants alive in this intense heat,

and spending time with my mom.
A friend told me to take lots of pictures of my mom. She recently lost her own mom to Alzheimer's so she understands. So I held out the camera with my right hand and snapped away. This was probably the best shot. The lighting is bad, and neither one of us needs closeups. But who cares. I will appreciate them more and more as time marches on.

Rendezvous

This Memphis restaurant has tasty foods, friendly service, and an abundance of customers. We arrived before the lunch crowd poured in to fill up every available table.

After our lunch we checked out a couple of shops on a nearby street. This entrance to Toad Hall Antiques opens into a shoppers' delight...bold pieces, unusual displays, and quirky objects.

This whimsical mural on the side of the building certainly catches one's eye and foretells the out of the ordinary merchandise.

There's a ground floor and an upper level...each area filled with rooms of interesting decor.

After much browsing we left with our heads full of decorating ideas.

Although the three of us live in different locations - Tennessee, Mississippi, and Florida - we are trying to reconnect more often. Since we shared our high school years together, we want to keep on making memories. I'm so looking forward to our next meeting. Special prayers and thoughts for FRIENDS who sustain us on this journey of life...xoxo

Treasures

Pennee and Lester sent me a box of California driftwood because they know I like rocks, shells, birdnests, and other objects of nature. Pennee wrote, "We hope you enjoy these lovely pieces of nature...Both Lester and I thought of you the moment we saw them." The package was waiting for me when I got back from my trip on Monday. I didn't discover until Wednesday night the other side of Pennee's note which showed a picture of a spelling with the wood pieces.

How wonderful is that!

At Peddlers Mall there were tons of treasures, but only these four small ones came home with me...a tiny bell, cross, handmade garden sign with Scrabble pieces, and metal candle pedestal base.

I may use a gold leaf rub on the candle holder or leave it as is.

Decisions, decisions...??

Trip Memories, Part II

I came home to my little castle, happy and refreshed. It was great to see new places, to dine in different restaurants, and to be with wonderful friends. We parted with memories and plans for next year. Thanks for taking the time to view this photo recap of my getaway weekend.
