Got Time?

Sometimes the need to write is very strong. Also the desire to be here...the need to connect with those of you who read my entries. I realize my life is ordinary, and yet at the same time I know it is extraordinary. We are all unique, interesting, and special. Each life has a wonderful beginning, middle, and end...a journey of importance.

While in Walgreens yesterday to get my Shingles shot, I noticed a journal like the one I'm using now. I decided to grab it rather than wait until I was at the end of my present one. Those three verbs on the removable advertising band are suitable for writers - think, create, record.

I am gathering pieces to start a new collage. On one torn piece of music there's a noteworthy quote.

To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die. -Campbell

I enjoy collage as an art form.

Well, time to close this entry and to wish you well on tomorrow's passage. Take time to think, create, and record.

This Is It!

Come in and see that the den has a new look with a cleaner and brighter fireplace.

I'm still searching for an area rug for this room.

The grouping above the couch is not right yet.
Maybe one of these days the right pieces will come together. I also dream about one huge art picture on this wall and luxurious throw pillows.

cozy chair to watch...

...TV inside the cabinet

That's it...our room that seems new because of the fireplace change.

A Little Bit of Nature

Due to recent rains little elf houses popped up in the yard.
Mushrooms are fascinating little structures with their erect stalks and caplike tops. These fungus growths were deserving of some camera closeups.

a little pine

our giant pine

Leaves are starting to settle here and there.

Green leaves remain for the time being.
Before long these will be a beautiful gold.
Are you anticipating the changes that autumn will bring?
I am!

Time for a Change

The painters are here. The primer is on the fireplace. Yeah! I think we are going to like the change from dark to light. We had grown tired of the dismal look of the old fireplace. I'll still have to decorate around the ugly vents and electrical outlet, but hey, the fireplace already looks better.

Wishing you Saturday joys,
xoxo

Passing Through

I don't like to go too many days without checking in and sharing a few thoughts. While browsing through a magazine I came across these words.

"Decorating is a journey. There's always something coming in and something going out. A few things stay forever."  -Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan

How true! One of my forever pieces is this English washstand I have shown before. I see it many times during the day as it sits in the hallway that passes
through our house.

Perhaps I have already mentioned the story that goes with the washstand. Forgive me if I am repeating myself. But I do like to tell  it. It and another piece of furniture were outside by the road near a gas station. The tiles grabbed my attention. I had to have it! But first I had to discuss the purchase with my husband. For a young married couple in the early 1970's forty-five dollars was a lot of money to spend on something that was not very practical. I wanted it mainly for its looks...those tile colors had spoken to my heart. Their rich colors still speak to my heart. I don't think I will ever grow tired of this special find.

My favorite colors...green, gold, brown, rust... are about to put on their fall show. My favorite season has arrived.

Today we had rain...a welcome sight and sound. But there was plenty of warm sunshine, too. All in all a glorious day.

Hodge-Podge

Sharing this and that from the past few days...

...added a few things to the booth

The green vase and books are Goodwill finds.
If you haven't read Mitch Albom's books, try to soon. They are very inspiring.

Mother's recent fall increases our concern. Her bumps and bruises are almost healed. She is one strong woman in spite of her frailty.

Grandparents were treated to outdoor plays by the kindergarten classes.
This group wore brown, gray, or pink because they were mice and recited "Hickory, Dickory, Dock."

Yesterday at the program it was miserably hot.
Today is pleasantly cool. Just goes to show what a difference a day can make.

Have a great weekend!

Favorite Color

My favoritism to the color green may be due to being a redhead with green eyes. Maybe it's because my mother always loved shades of green and introduced me to them years ago. Whatever the reason, green is a favorite color of mine. It's prevalent throughout my house and wardrobe.
