It's Almost Here!

Since it rained the entire day I had ample indoor time to do the other pumpkin. The candy bags are filled, the extra candles are handy, the camera has extra batteries, and the anticipation of Halloween visitors in adorable costumes is half the fun.

Thursday At Home

Sharing two of my accomplishments on this rainy day...first I found a frame in my stash of stuff that I could use for the twig leaf from Savannah. You know how much I like to preserve leaves from different places... a way to save a precious memory. Then I was able to carve one pumpkin. Usually I cut a lid from the top. This was my first time to cut a hole at the bottom and place the finished pumpkin over the candle. I like carving with patterns because it turns out if you take your time. Thank you for spending a part of your busy day with me.

Ghostly fun

When grandson Gunner was here on Sunday he did not approve of two ghosts I had placed on the "spooky old tree." He said, "Grams, they don't have arms." He got busy making a correct ghost. Grandson Garrett was here this afternoon and added his version of a ghost. That's the main reason I put the Halloween tree out...so they can enjoy adding to it.

Taking Care of Business

Halloween tags added some color to the booth space.

stack of books

plate with nature scene

farm couple displayed on old rake

vintage windup Santa head that plays a tune
I decided it was time to visit the booth and make a few changes. The month is almost over, and a few more sales would be nice. Back home my mom and I sat outside in the swing, enjoying the fresh air and the reds and golds of the trees. Too bad rain is expected tomorrow. Before I go I want to say "Thank You" for taking the time to visit B&P. I have received such warm remarks from friends and fellow bloggers.

Pleasant Gatherings

Today was a relaxing meal of hoagie sandwiches and chips with kids and grandkids here at home. Yesterday was a relaxing meal at Catfish Hotel in Savannah, TN, with dear friends. The restaurant had logs burning in the stone fireplace. Loved that! This fall weekend couldn't have been better. Lucky me!

On A Rainy Day...

I spent time cutting and pasting...creating a Halloween garland...may try to sell it at the booth. If it doesn't sell I'll bring it back home and display it on Halloween night. Yesterday I worked on another spooky tree branch display...have spray painted the branches black getting them ready for bats, ghosts, spiders, etc. I think I enjoy the holiday as much as the little ones 'cause it gives me a chance to do my favorite thing - decorating.

This and That

Last night I lit a small votive. I had forgotten how much glow and peace one candle can provide.

one view from the backyard

natural browns and golds

toadstools clinging to a stump

Remember this recent purchase...the recipe stand

I cut this quote from October 2009 Country Living, pasted it onto some background paper(again a magazine clipping), and placed it on that stand which is now on a small candlestick table that's between the couch and recliner.

I really like the way it looks.

Fall is great!

Wow, today was grand, especially if you were outside on this fall day.

I love the look of fall pumpkins on doorsteps, in planters, and on benches and chairs.

Most people who enter our home come in through the side door, walk through the garage, and step up into the kitchen. I would offer you a piece of egg custard pie that my husband made today, but warm out of the oven, it tasted heavenly and was soon gone. Until next time...be good to yourself and smile at everyone you meet.

Detour

An old Halloween friend

This year he's sitting on the piano to watch over eerie things to come.

Love those flower frogs for displaying words or pictures.

I took this picture from the newspaper, glued it onto a manilla folder, and cut out this spooky family.

Together on the bookshelf...a simple and new decoration

With the computer down I passed some time working on another holiday garland.

For Sale

I found another stand! Remember the day I went to Charlene's. On my way home I stopped at the antique mall in Ripley, TN. The tag on this one said it was a recipe stand. Beth, please let me know how you will use yours. Expect your package to arrive at the end of this week.

This little rabbit was my second find at the Ripley store. He really is cuter in person.

YEAH...I'm back! Gee, I have missed being here. I have come to depend on my computer, and when it was out of order, my world seemed to shrink. I couldn't check emails, blogs, and news. It was terrible! Hopefully I'm back on track. Thanks for checking on my whereabouts. Hope your daily routine has been smooth, and if not, I hope it will be soon. Hugs, Sandy
