Ah, To Browse!

Browsing an antique store is a favorite pastime of mine. You get to see all sorts of old(and not so old)things. I only snapped a few pictures.

I am not a doll collector, but this group was photo worthy.
The one with the lavender hat and dress was my favorite due to her penetrating stare with a trace of sadness.

I paused at this whimsical painting someone had done on a piece of wood.
I think I may try something like this on an art journal page.

Really liked this cabinet of drawers, but it was another "left behind"
wonderful find.

Seeing those brown drawers made me think of Susan Branch's blog post on the color brown. It's her latest entry, and it's outstanding.

Starting Again

After a long break I opened my art journal. Sure felt rusty as I applied paint to  blank white paper.

Strange January

We are having strange weather for January. No jacket or sweater needed yesterday. But that's supposed to change today. We're living in a mixed-up season. I have been mixing up a few things inside the house.

I posted this picture on Instagram explaining that my brown pottery collection started back in the 70's. I kept adding a few more over the years. Mine are very inexpensive but rich in memories.

The cross Christmas gift was hung in the hallway.

Made Mom's chocolate pie twice this week.
You can find her recipe under the label recipe.
It's so good, warm or cold.

P.S.

I decided to keep the gazelle in sight. I can't explain why certain objects are appealing. Weird but wonderful. Decorating after Christmas is challenging.
These two quirky pieces - the metal gazelle and the reading rabbit  - offer quite a change.

Hope you are having a great Thursday.

Sightseeing at Antique Malls

It is such fun to walk through an antique mall and notice the vast assortment of objects. Yesterday I was with a friend, and we took in two malls that are near each other. I snapped a few photos along the way.

I liked this framed print.

Interesting...

Nice pottery I considered, but passed up.

Wow, I stopped to admire this door!

I almost bought this package of ornaments, but the price was more than I wanted to pay.

Wonder who this lovely lady is...

This cooler reminded me of my parents, 'cause we had one on family camping trips.

Of course, I enjoyed all the art I saw on display. This abstract caught my eye.

I came home with a few littles. I know it's a rather weird assortment. The metal gazelle, porcelain miniature library, and green parfait glass will be tucked away for much later in the year.

My biggest purchase was this woven picnic basket. When I see one of these in good condition, I get excited. Just love their latches and how useful they are for storage.

Fresh Start

Every year I look for and buy a Susan Branch calendar.
Her blog continues to be one of my favorites.

Every year I look for and buy a new journal.
My writing habit is hard to break.

Most of the time I write at this desk in my clothes closet.
At the end of the day is when I usually write.

Some people start the new year with a list of resolutions. I don't.
However, I want to read the Bible and other devotionals daily.

Now if only I could get into an exercising and eating well habit...
