A Special Date

 June 30, 1989

We have been blessed for twenty-seven years.
Our prayer is that we will have more years together.

Monday, Monday

 Just two quick photos

I opened the doors of the small cupboard and placed two ABC mugs inside.
I will always be fascinated by our alphabet of 26 letters. To think that those 26 marks are responsible for all the words in our language.

I snapped this picture of the top of the bookcase for Magpiemonday on Instagram. Pictures of collections are shared on Mondays. This was my first time to take part. I still love to look for children reading, either in figurines or prints. One of my favorite art prints is "The Fairy Tale" by Walter Firle.

Time for a Few Changes

I seldom make big changes here at home, but little things do get moved around. For example, I moved this brass pitcher from a small end table to the hearth. It has been with me for years. During apartment days it sat on the lone shelf in the tiny kitchen. In my first home it was always on the massive mantel log in the rustic den.

It still has the sticker on the bottom that reads Burks Antiques Log Cabin. A lovely couple allowed young people to charge purchases and pay for pieces on a monthly basis. Thanks to the Burks I was able to acquire my first quality pieces of antique furniture.

To hide two vents and one center outlet makes decorating
this mantel very frustrating. However, I changed it
this afternoon, trying not to get upset.  The stained
little cupboard is back, but to hide that ugly outlet
I had to place the alphabet plate on top. Happy
with the number 5 block.

I moved the antique clock from the mantel to the piano.

Hey, the clock seems to be running better in this spot. Hopefully with its lower position I'll be better at winding it.

I liked this chalkboard message from a Pinterest site.
I just glued the page to a canvas and propped it on our bookcase.
May decide to frame it.

In high school I borrowed those words and wrote them in someone's yearbook.
How true those six words are!

My Escape

Just ten minutes or a couple of hours over in the art nook is time well spent to me. Sometimes I do ministry cards for the church or a personal project like the angel piece I'm working on.

Yesterday Nicolas took a white card and in just a few minutes made this.
He asked me how to spell calm. I wondered why.

Bless his heart. He was not aware of the terrible event in Orlando.
I was amazed to see his message.

Happy Finds

At long last I found an appealing cow print that was low priced. It's a sweet print that makes me think of simpler times. Also I had my husband in mind when searching for a cow picture. Sometimes he misses the cattle he once had.

#1

I enlarged it so you could see the scene better.

#2

This lightweight table with rollers was in the booth next to mine. I spotted it one day and went back for it the next. Luckily it was still there. So handy and well worth eight dollars. At night it holds a stack of pillows that I take off the master bed. At other times it will serve as a snack table for a tray of ballgame munchies.

I chose this sewing machine drawer for the pretty detailing on the front.
Not quite sure where it will be used.

Happy Hunting !

Signs of the Season

At a fruit stand was this cute sign.

In my own yard I know it's June because the lilies are blooming.
