A Scorcher

That's how the morning newspaper describes today's weather. Oh well, it's August in TN so that's what we can expect this month. What we didn't expect was for June and July to be as stifling hot as they were. I watered my container plants early this morning in hopes of helping them survive this extreme heat. Thankfully we are still getting tomatoes from our small garden. Bologna or ham slices, a little mayo, and sliced tomatoes have made favorite sandwiches around our house. Three grandkids are with us today enjoying their last bit of summer freedom. They return to classes next week. I'm so glad I don't have to report in for classroom preparations, new names and faces to learn, and the challenging efforts required of teachers.

it was 105 yesterday! All week is supposed to be like this. I'm with you, it wouldn't be so bad if June and July hadn't already been so hot...
